Unfortunately, the number of family-owned businesses that survive the transfer from the founding to the proceeding generation is alarmingly low, but that is exactly what makes Lercher’s story even more pleasing. In 2010, the company transitioned ownership to the second generation, setting the course for continued success and dynamic growth. The full success story, however, started with many self-made entrepreneurs, including Lercher, in the famous garage at the centre of Klaus.
Construction started next to the post office, along with the creation of the first tools – which put modestly, were said to be made with such meticulousness and attention to detail that they could have only been made by someone from Vorarlberg.
The gradual, yet continuous, growth of the company had already increasedto 15 qualified employees. The ongoing expansion into new machines and exceptional course of business made it essential to build extensions, which were carried out in1997.
Quickly, the company needed new extensions, but it was no longer possible to expand in the center of the village due to space constraints. So,it was decided to construct a completely new building directly next to Klaus’Autobahn exit and across the street from its train station. The fully air-conditioned office and production areas were built on 2,700 square meters and equipped with modern machinery, becoming a new home for Lercher and its 40 employees of the time.
Rapidly, the new building became too small due to the economic growth and increased employment of 65 people. A new extension was added which also created enough space to expand the plastic injection moulding division, opening further business areas.
With the handover of his life's work to his children, Sandra Ender-Lercher and Dominik Lercher, the company pioneer, Bernhard Lercher, commenced his well-deserved retirement. The seamless continuation of the company's philosophy was its top priority. On the 11th of May 2010 the company celebrated the retirement of Bernhard and Monika Lercher.
The ground-breaking ceremony in April 2013 marked the start of the third stage of expansion at Lercher. In addition to 30 new jobs, the new 3,000 square meters provided more space for further production technologies, including the establishment of a clean room area.
With the newly finished extension, the company was able to accommodate a fully automatic high-bay warehouse with 1,800 spaces. A separate measuring room with 3D measurement was set up and 92 people were employed.
The continuous expansion of in-house toolmaking and plastic injection moulding fueled the company. Certifications such as IATF and Medical Standard were acquired, helping establish and expand new customers. The hiring of key staff, particularly in quality and project management, advanced company efficiency.
Thanks to the tireless commitment of our almost 140 employees, we were able to overcome the pandemic and we look positively into the future.
